Visualization

VAM auto-discovers an entire AV network with graphical representation of each system aspect. Being able to see all switches and connected components, it’s easy to identify ZyPer endpoints and multicast streams, as well as trunks, between switches as well as over LAG trunks.

icon-VAM-ANALYZE

Analysis

VAM allows users to see what they are working on in real-time with instant access to switch-related data, including IP addresses and current firmware versions. It also indicates the status and allocated bandwidth of individual ports.

icon-VAM-MONITOR

Monitoring

VAM enables service providers and system managers to easily observe individual switch ports and links data via multiple live chart options. This includes multicast packet rate (PPS), port bandwidth (Mbps) and network errors (PPS).

The innovative VAM tool enables the visualization, analysis and monitoring of multicast traffic on an AV network. This streamlines AVoIP system operation and provides real-time warnings of potential issues, including instances where bandwidth limits may be exceeded.

Example 1:
VAM dynamically discovers and displays switches, ZyPer device connections to ports on switches and trunks between switches. AV/IP-specific switch configuration is directly accessible along with statistics including strip charts. Easy traversal between ZyPer devices on map with ZMP configuration panels.
Example 2:
VAM has a sophisticated multicast stream trace mechanism, including traversing link aggregates between switches. The user selects an encoder or decoder and requests associated multicast streams to be highlighted on the map.
Example 3:
A closeup view of stream tracing between an encoder and two decoders.

VAM provides critical, real-time graphical indication of trunk oversubscription, including links within a LAG. Another key feature is the automated checking of switch configuration required for AVoIP operation and generation of warnings as necessary. Detailed switch configuration and operational data is available for system-level parameters for snooping, the proxy querier, multicast forwarding database, VLAN and port-level configuration and statistics.

Network Discovery & Topography

  • All switches; graphical and table with essential details
  • All encoders and decoders
  • Uses LLDP and SNMPv3 for broad, multi-vendor, support
  • Switch trunk connections
  • Device connections to switches – showing exactly where each device is connected
  • Auto-routing and placement of all switches, encoder, decoders and connections
  • Ability to move switches and change orientation of switches
  • Layout changes saved on backend
  • “Hover” boxes allowing quick view of encoder and decoder essential details

Advanced AV/IP Analysis

  • Trace flows from encoder to all decoders
  • Graphical indication of exactly where multicast flows are forwarded
  • Uses direct switch MFDB tables and known switch and device interconnects
  • Immediate indication of trunk oversubscription
  • Inter-switch trunk oversubscription leading cause of AV/IP issues
  • Detection is based on actual MFDB multicasts present along with known multicast stream data rate
  • Graphs of switch port statistics: data rate, multicast rate and error rate
  • Raw statistics also available

Configuration, Status & Errors

  • Detects misconfigured switches; indication present on switch in GUI
  • Lists all configuration warnings or errors
  • Shows all AV/IP related switch parameters – no need to access switch
  • Snooping operation, VLAN and per interface
  • Full multicast address awareness, including active MFDB
  • Graphical status of all switches and ports – including trunks and LAGs
  • Tight integration with existing ZMP per-encoder/decoder management
