ZvCli (Command Line Interface) allows you to configure ZvBox. There are two ways to get the ZvCli.

To download from our website click here

Or

Directly from a ZvPro 250
• Open “My computer” on your PC’s desktop
• Connect your computer to ZvPro 250 via a USB cable. If already connected, disconnect and re-connect the USB cable.
• Open the new drive labeled “ZeeVee”
• Run “StartZv” and follow the prompts to download ZvCli

It’s easy to do, using ZvCli configuration software and the ZvCli user manual, both of which can be downloaded here. For a quick and easy introduction, see a short video here.

First, it is possible to have your Zv channel on the same coax as your over-the-air (OTA) channels. The bigger issue is how your HDTV tuner lets you access both the Zv channel and the OTA channels. Some HDTVs will store both OTA and cable channels in one big integrated channel lineup- you click up or down on the remote, and it allows you to scroll right through them all. On other sets, you have to first tell the HDTV (using several menu commands) whether you want to watch OTA or cable channels, and then you can scroll only through the selected type- switching back and forth is less convenient.

On the other hand, getting the Zv channel onto the coax is easy- just make sure the channel ZvBox will use is unoccupied. Normally, the spectrum analyzer in ZvBox could figure this out, but it can only spot empty cable channels- and here you’re looking for empty OTA channels. Our recommendation is to use channel 126 or higher, which is outside the OTA broadcast range. If your HDTV won’t tune in channels above 125 (some older one’s won’t), you can install a channel 125 filter on your incoming coax line, which will block out a few channels, one of which can be used to broadcast your Zv channel. We sell these channel filters on our web site.

Check the configuration of your console to make sure it matches the following specs:
Protocol: RS‐232
Physical Connector: DB9
Baud Rate: 115200
Bit Length: 8
Parity: none
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Control: Software (XON/XOFF)
Login: zvmanager

Download requires an internet connection and connecting via the serial port doesn't provide one. Scripting is not supported because ZvPro doesn’t have a file system to store script files.

It sounds like you had ZvManager installed on your PC, and uninstalled it so you could use ZvCli to configure your ZvBox instead. A registry entry left behind during the uninstall process causes Zinc to think ZvManager is still installed, preventing the standalone Zinc installation.

To fix the issue, delete registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ZeeVee\Zv

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. We cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To delete the registry key:
1. Start the Registry Editor
a. Windows XP go to Start>Run and enter “regedit”
b. Windows Vista go to Start>Start Search enter “regedit”
2. Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder
3. Expand the Software folder
4. Expand the ZeeVee folder
5. Delete the folder “ZV”
